Job Purpose and Description:
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for developing and maintaining a positive relationship with applicants (primarily traditional undergraduates) at all levels and during all parts of the application/recruiting process. He/She also is responsible for working within the university environment to facilitate enrollment and good working relations among schools/departments as assigned. Support the work of full time counselors by contacting applicants, meeting with students and working with the CBU community.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of the enrollment process at Christian Brothers University and actively participate in that process as the point person for developing relationships with applicants. Achieve conversion goals from apply to accept and accept to enroll. Achieve all contact goals with applicants for each term.
- Facilitate daily business in the Admission Office. This includes appointments, interviews, ongoing maintenance of applicants' files and other related activities.
- Review applications for admission and supporting documents and make decisions on admission based on academic information submitted. Refer applicants who do not meet criteria for admission to Admissions Committee.
- Maintain and document regular monthly contact and achieve contact goals with applicants, primarily via phone, but also via e-mail or letter to assist with the application process and provide information as required. Become familiar and be able to navigate within admissions module of Banner. Work with admissions team to support counselor contact with students.
- Maintain effective communication with the Departments of Financial Aid, Registrar and Business Office as necessary to facilitate their efforts in the application process. Accurately counsel students and families on financial aid packages and calculate out of pocket expenses.
- Participate and cover local area college fairs and events as needed.
- Represent the University to all constituents using excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Assist the Associate Director in planning of on and off campus events as needed.
- Accomplish other tasks consistent with an efficient enrollment operation as assigned by the Dean of Admissions.
Job Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required for this position.
- A valid driver's license is also required.
Working Conditions:
- This position does not offer benefits.
- Office hours are 2:00pm to 8:30pm Monday through Thursday and 12:00pm to 4:00pm on Friday.
