Testimonials

"The Early College Program at CBU is definitely a superior alternative to AP classes. It really helped me get a feel for what lies ahead of me and it helped me to decide what I wanted to major in once I arrived here at CBU."
-- Greg O., Memphis, TN

"The class was broken down into easy and manageable modules. It was a unique experience to get a glimpse of how an actual college class operates, and best of all, it was free!"
-- Bennett W., Memphis, TN

Early College Program (Dual Enrollment)

Would you like to get college credit for taking your required high school courses?

Don't have the money for an AP class?

Christian Brothers University is pleased to announce its participation in the Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant program. We like to call it the Early College Program (ECP). This program funds high school students’ study at eligible postsecondary institutions. Participating students receive college credit as well as credit toward high school graduation.*

The Tennessee Legislature created a
dual enrollment grant program under which high school juniors and seniors may be eligible to receive a $300 grant for classes which will earn both high school credit and college credit. Students remain enrolled at their current high school and are also enrolled at CBU as a special part time student. All students will receive an official college transcript upon successful completion of the course work.

The Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant program is funded by the Tennessee Lottery and administered by the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation. It is designed to provide financial assistance to qualified high school students in pursuit of postsecondary study at an eligible Tennessee public or private institution while receiving dual high school and college credit for successfully completed courses. Grant funding covers all student expenses except textbooks for courses taken during summer terms. This program provides opportunities for these students to begin working toward a college degree, while still pursuing a high school diploma, and encourages post-secondary education and the acceleration of postsecondary attainment. Grant funds can only be used for college level courses that meet high school requirements for graduation.

Out of state students are also eligible for the Early College Program. These students will take available classes online and obtain the same benefits. They will also receive the same discounted price of $300 per class.
