If you are interested in scientific writing, then a possible degree path for you would be to major in Natural Science and obtain a certificate in scientific writing.  The Natural Science major is a "design your own degree" (within limits), so there is a wide array of science courses available.  The writing certificate requires 12 credit hours (4 courses) in upper-level writing courses.
