The law and science interact in several areas including patent law, medical malpractice, forensics, and product liability.
Most law schools have no preference as to major, but the natural sciences are clearly rigorous fields that will help students develop the skills law schools do look for. Besides high grades and high LSAT scores, law schools look for evidence of organization, research, analysis, critical reading, verbal communication, and especially writing. Students should also focus on a minor and/or electives that develop writing skills and that require extensive and sophisticated reading. Courses in English, Philosophy, Religion, History, Political Science, Psychology, and/or Business can all contribute to a student's preparation for law school. Students are also encouraged to do some kind of off-campus service learning project, study abroad, or internship if possible. The most important things to remember are to get a well-rounded education and to major in a challenging subject that you enjoy.
In addition to our traditional science majors of
