Bioinformatics is a field of science in which biologists, chemists, computer scientists and mathematicians work together to manage, store and analyze data produced in laboratories. Its primary goal is to increase the understanding of biological processes. Bioinformaticians use databases, algorithms and statistics to solve problems arising from the management and analysis of biological data.
At CBU you can major in biology or chemistry and choose some computer science courses to supplement your degree. Or you can major in computer science and choose its bioinformatics option. Or you can major in mathematics and choose its bioinformatics option in biology or chemistry.
