MAEL Admissions

The Master of Arts in Executive Leadership at Christian Brothers University has been specifically designed for the executive or rising executive in all sectors of the Mid-South economy, including for-profit, non-profit, education, and religious organizations.  The MAEL is a broad program with an unique curriculum.  It appeals to those already involved in leadership positions in their organizations or the community and those who simply want to learn how to refine their leadership expertise.

Applicants must submit the following documents to be considered for admission:

  • A completed MAEL application form.
  • $50 application fee.
  • One official transcript of previous academic credits from every college or university previously attended.
  • An undergraduate degree with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • An updated resume showing at least 5 years of formal/informal leadership experience.
  • A 2-page essay on one of the following topics:
    • What is the biggest mistake you have made as a leader, and what did you learn from that mistake?
    • Do you think ethics is universal, or does each person have a set of unique ethical values? Explain your choice.
    • Who is the best leader you have ever worked for/with and what characteristics made him/her outstanding?
  • An interview with the admissions committee (this will be scheduled after all other admissions materials are received).
  • Foreign applicants must submit results of TOEFL if English is not their native language or was not the language of instruction for their baccalaureate degree. Minimum required scores on the TOEFL examination is 213 if computer based, 550 if paper based.
Admission into the program will be determined by the MAEL admissions committee. All decisions of this committee are final.

Two cohorts are admitted each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. No more than 20 students will be admitted each term. In order to be considered for the Fall Cohort, all materials must be in to the MBA office by August 1. All materials must be received by December 1 in order to qualify for the Spring Cohort.
