Christopher Matz Named Director of Plough Library

Memphis- Christopher Matz has been named the new Director of the Plough Library at Christian Brothers University (CBU). Matz joins CBU from the University of Memphis where he served as the collection development librarian at the Ned R. McWherter Library.
"In addition to extensive experience, community contacts and professional accomplishments, Chris brings passion and enthusiasm to the position," Jack Hargett, Associate Vice President for Academics said of the appointment. Prior to coming to Memphis, Matz was acting director and acquisitions librarian at Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina.
In addition to his extensive experience, Matz has a history of journal, refereed conference and non-refereed publications. In April 2007, he received the Tennessee Library Association SIRS Freedom of Information Award. Matz actively participates in outreach and community service.
"Throughout my career, I have worked with students, faculty members, and administrators to cultivate strong relationships. Now more than ever, that is a vital responsibility, both inside and out of the library." states Matz.
Matz holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Oregon, as well as a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. and a Master of Arts in English/Professional Writing from the University of Memphis. ###
