CBU Announces Fall Concert Series

Memphis- Christian Brothers University (CBU) is proud to announce its 2007 Fall Concert Series. The fall semester will definitely be a musical one with Tommy Gaines, Assistant Professor of Music, accompanying the concerts featuring his students, directing the CB Singers, and showcasing his baritone renditions. Mark your calendar to attend these entertaining musical events:

Friday, September 28, 2007- 7:30 p.m. - Spain Auditorium "An Evening of Recital." A spirited evening of vocal selections including art songs, arias and sacred songs performed by CBU students.

Tuesday, October 23, 2007- 7:30 p.m. - University Theater "Faculty Recital by Tommy Gaines, baritone." Enjoy an evening of art songs, operatic arias, sacred and popular songs by CBU's own Assistant Professor of Music, Tommy Gaines. A winner of the Encouragement Award at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the Beethoven Club of Memphis' Young Artist Competition, Gaines has performed professionally with several opera companies and been a soloist in numerous oratorios, concerts and recital venues.

Friday, November 16, 2007- 7:30 p.m. - Spain Auditorium "Duet and Ensemble Recital." A delightful evening of duet, trio and small ensemble selections ranging from classics and opera to Broadway show tunes performed by CBU students.

Friday, November 30, 2007- 7:30 p.m. - University Theater "This is Christmas." Join the CB Singers, the University’s premier singing group, as they begin the holiday season by singing sacred and popular Christmas songs arranged by Bob Krogstad, one of today’s most popular arrangers.
